well Hi!

hello all. Yes I know it's been over a month since my last post. All sorts of things happened that just didn't allow for me to give blogger any attention. First I got sick, then my son, then we passed it on to hubby as we got better... it was not a good couple of weeks. I was horrid looking. not that you would have seen me.. so I thought I'd do a pictorial representation of me..
So within a few hours I went.....
There WAS rain and lightening in my room.... I swear....
Anyway...
I am now mobile.....
It took a couple of days backing up and reorganising, but I have finally ditched the PC and upgraded to a laptop. It's only a refurbished one, but it's pretty smicko.. and zippy with it's i5 processor. After a bit of an argument with it about my speaker cable.. we finally settled and are working harmoniously together. Poor Hubby has not even opened his up yet.. he is still backing up his GAZILLION hard drives off his old PC.

Meanwhile.... Moby has his winter weight fur and is as fat as a whale. He likes to plonk his enormous bulk down on my friends lap. Especially at night, which, unfortunately is the time when she likes to get all her knitting done.. sometimes he is a little frisky and bats at the wool. One night she was knitting away when all of a sudden she realised the wool was getting really wet and sticky.. she looked down onto her lap and here is Moby fast asleep with the wool threading through his mouth, getting cat slobber all over it! I laughed so much when she told me.

So my Dad's operation is on Friday. He has to be at the hospital pretty early so I am going to drive them there myself.. and so I can be there waiting with Mum. I think they are getting a little nervous about it. It's a BIG operation. It's supposed to last for 2 - 2 1/2 hours without any complications. He will be in hospital for a week if all goes well. I admit I am getting a little nervous myself. I took my son to see him today... you know.. just in case.. (I don't even want to go there). We haven't heard anything about when Hubby's operation is supposed to be as of yet. At least they weren't scheduled at the same time.

We have been to another market, to see what it was like.. didn't like it much as it was ridiculously windy. But we did sell a lot of my crochet tea towels.. people love em for some reason... Oh! I've sold a painting! It's one I did of a Lorikeet. I didn't sell it at the market but I showed a pic of it on my phone to my friend and she loved it. I am a selling artist! WOOT WOOT!!!

I've been a bit of a Betty Home Maker lately and have been baking lots of yummy things. Jube lolly biscuits and bread..
This was one of them.. fabulous Soy and Linseed Bread.
I also made more of the cute crochet rings. This one I put a nice pearl button in the centre...I think it's my favourite so far..

And this is the Lorikeet painting I did...
Isn't he gorgeous? I wanted to keep him!
sorry about the crap photo..I haven't worked out how to take a good pic of my art yet..
Well I think that is it for now.. I did go to a book fair but I'll talk about that another time.. I am sure I have bored you enough. Bye for now, Sprite.

Sprite down..

My left arm has been sore (for over a month now), so after I couldn't put up with the pain any longer being nagged by Hubby, I finally went to the doctor yesterday. Today I had to have an ultrasound on it and it appears I have Bursitis. Which is inflammation of the Bursa. What is a Bursae you ask? Well it's a little sack located between two adjoining structures, like tendons, muscles and bones, that decrease friction and assist movement of the tendon over the bony surface.
It's caused by a sudden injury (like mine was), or overuse in a particular activity. It can be treated and it's best to do so before it becomes chronic.
Luckily they caught mine in time. But the treatment is not going to be fun. I have to get a shot into the shoulder under an ultrasound (so they can get it in the right spot). I get it on Friday. Meanwhile I have to take anti-inflammatory meds, and pain meds.
It's extremely painful. And I'm not allowed to do ANYTHING. Hopefully this shot will fix it.

Moby Update...
Moby is one SPOILT kitty. Went to visit the other day and he is living it up. He gets brushed every day, and eats like a royal. Sleeps on her bed at night. My friend is quite smitten with him and I got the impression that she would love Moby to stay there permanently. Which is a big relief. I tell you, my cat would charm even the hardest of hearts.

still alive..... I think...

I may be running on auto pilot now. I am sore in so many places I can't count. I think last night was the first time in three weeks I got some sort of decent sleep. Thanks to a brand new mattress, and Hubby sleeping at the old place. All the days are rolling into one now. I can't wait till this move is all done with and we can finally settle down to our beach bum life on the coast. The view from my apartment is lovely. Can't see the beach, but can see the ocean and the never ending horizon beyond.  It's a little cloudy today so I wont take any photos for you until it is a nice sunny day.

During one of our epic car trips (new place is 3 hours drive away) we had to make a stop to pick up our new mattress. Hubby bought it off Ebay. It looked like a giant roll of red waxed cheese and it weighed a tonne. Apparently all of the major furniture places get their mattresses delivered like this. Anyway we get it into our room and take off the outer plastic and it starts to unroll. I put a air hole in the plastic covering it and it goes "SHEEEEEOOOOMP!" pops back into its original shape. It's one of those fancy individual coil pocket ones. Quite comfy.

The baby birds hatched on the night of our move. We hired a moving truck for 24 hours. So from 7am to 7am we were flat out... no sleep, just moving, moving.... We got back to the truck depot with an hour to spare. Anyway, I peeked into the nest, expecting to find two eggs but instead there are two baby bird. Ugly but so cute. Well in the week they have doubled in size and are nearly too big for the nest. We saw Mum and Dad feeding them yesterday. Such good little parents. I have taken progress pics, but can't upload them for you until I have my pc, and internet set up. right now I am typing on my little netbook and using a wireless modem.
8am this morning two people came round to tend the garden, clean the pool and take out all the bins.... I like this apartment life !
Anyway, I'd better get back to it. I will catch up with you when I have a chance to. Miss you.
p.s We gave Moby to my old neighbour to look after. We lived next to her when I first moved to the area and she is actually looking after my parents cat to. So it's way better for Moby. He is back with his kitty friend, and he knows the house.
I popped Moby into his kitty carrier and set him in the front of the truck with us. at my feet. He meowed maybe twice then curled up to sleep. Except for when Hubby drove over a bump, Moby would then raise his head and meow. Like he was complaining about the bumpy ride.. LOL! It was so funny. Now every time we go over a bump we go "Meow!"

Two days to go!

Have I mentioned how much I hate moving before?
I'm sure I have...
Well it's two days till moving day. We are nearly on track here. My feet are so sore, and I am so over packing. Not to mention al the dust! My allergies are going haywire. There are also bush fires all around south east Queensland and the smoke is heavy everywhere. Lungs are screaming at me. Can't wait to move to the lovely beach with clean cool air.
Moby is going to be looked after by my next door neighbour while we find somewhere better for him. There is  an animal shelter where we are moving that keep older pets instead of rehousing them. They keep them there and volunteers come and play/love them. I could volunteer and go see him and others whenever I wanted. Not to mention how cool it would be to work at an animal shelter. They DON'T euthanise. At all. Plus you are able to take your pet back. So maybe in six months time we will find a place that allows pets and I can get Moby back again.
The Honeyeaters are still sitting on their eggs. Hopefully they will hatch before our last day in this house, which is the 29th. I will bring my camera each day we come back here for garage sale and cleaning just in case.
anyway... back to it I guess :(

I'm going to be a Beach Bum...

We received a call from the real estate today. We got the unit we applied for, and it is just a short walk from the beach. So short that you wouldn't even break out in a sweat. It's a lovely two bedroom apartment, on the end of the complex, so we also have side windows, and a nice balcony to watch the waves. It also has a secured, garage underneath, where we can store most of our stuff. Even so we have had to downsize considerably.
And we also can't have Moby. I'm pretty devastated, but there is strictly no pets allowed in the complex and Hubby and Son really wanted this unit. We are looking for a good home for him. There are a couple of things we are waiting to hear from. I've had him for ten years. Granted over those ten years he was living with my parents for some of that time, but he was still my kitty and I could visit him whenever I wanted. I wish my parents were still here so I could just hand him back to them. I can't give him to the lady that took my parents cat because then she'd be looking after two cats and a dog.  There is one lady who lives in the hinterland behind the beach who is animal crazy who may take him. She is the sister of a very good friend of ours.
Anyway...we are moving in just over a week (yeah that's how close we were getting), and having a mega garage sale on the weekend. The house is full of boxes, and I hate it.
On the flip side, I discovered that giant rolls of bubble wrap are FUN.

In other news...
The honeysuckle, that is actually a honeyeater, is still sitting on her two eggs. I'm not sure if they are going to hatch before we leave though. I found out that they are a little family who live in this area and apparently they nest in that particular bush every year. Damned crazy birds! I am going to miss my little wren family as well. I haven't seen any nice birds at the beach except for crows, Ibis's and seagulls. And while crows are sometimes amusing to watch, they aren't the same as my cute little twittering wrens. Ibis's are ugly and seagulls are basically rats with wings.

So that is my story at the moment. Happy but sad.

Heyall!

I have been away for a while. Not ACTUALLY away, but found myself not having much time to be on here. Its school holidays now and we have had some busy days. We like making sure our son has a good time during the holidays because he works so hard on his school work. His report card was good for this term. Today we went to the movies to see Transformers 3. It was awesome. Except it was a looooong movie, and I needed to pee real bad at the end.

We also spent the day volunteering at the grand opening of the Thrift shop that supports the non-profit organisation we are members of. They moved to a new, bigger premises and held a sausage sizzle for the customers. Hubby was delegated to do the BBQ. Meanwhile I was inside in their ironing room preparing new stock to go out onto the shop floor. The day was a big success, and I ended up finding a nice black vinyl jacket for only $20.

We finished our project. It was, in fact a Kitty house for Moby, who has taken up residence in it, even though we haven’t painted it. I think it will stay not painted. Moby seems quite happy with it. We left the lid on the barrel, and Hubby cut out a hole for Moby to get in and out of. Hubby specially rolled over the metal around the edges to prevent any booboo’s. Will have pics of it in next post.

Yesterday saw us taking another trip into the city so Hubby could de-register his business. And the place we had to go to just happened to be one block down from our favourite Japanese Restaurant. YAY! Yummy lunch!

I have received some information by a lovely lady who recommended me to a specialist in Melbourne that can maybe help me with my eye issues. I know I won’t regain the sight I’ve lost, but hopefully I can stop it from happening again, or at least find out 100% that I actually do have Ocular Autoimmune Disease. I am going to contact them and see what can be done. It’s actually a bit exciting, planning a trip down to Melbourne. I’ve made a few overseas trips in my life but have never actually been out of my home state of Queensland to explore the rest of Australia. Melbourne always seemed so Hip and Arty to me. Hopefully will be able to do a bit of retail therapy as well.

A friend of mine is 19 weeks pregnant. She posted her scan pics on FB. They are having a boy. While I am happy for her, it makes me sad. I am going to her baby shower if I think I can handle it. I have wrapped up the baby clothes we bought for ourselves for our own little bundle that didn’t happen, to give to her. But it’s good they are going to someone else. Someone who will appreciate it.
Speaking of baby things, I must say a BIG thank you to Deb at poetesswug. I won one of her amazing creations and it arrived safely in the post yesterday! It’s very cute. Yes it’s a baby wrap, but I’m sure I will find some use for it.

I have a new friend. He is yellow and so very cute and keeps me company at my desk. He is the fat chick(en) from the movie “Hop”. I think he is adorable. Hubby thinks he has crazy eyes and doesn’t like it looking at him. Funny considering HE was the one who bought it for me.
 Awww....

Weird cat, little sisters and presents!

Ever since Moby was a kitten he has slept in weird places or in odd positions. Lately he has taken a liking to the two pot plants I have outside. Even when it's pouring down rain, he sleeps there. Well, he doesn't get wet but surely it can't be cosy...
hmmm.. sleeepy...

What?

ZZzzzzzz......
So my little sister is staying with us for a few days while she does her Uni Prac. I'm not entirely sure what she is studying, something to do with animals, and farming, and stuff. It's nice to have her here, even if I am only seeing her in the evening. But at the end of it she has left a couple of days free, so we can spend some time together, and go visit our parents. We exchanged birthday presents we wernt able to give before. She gave me a voucher to a candle shop I love, plus some other nice girly smelly stuff. And a cute little retro looking shower cap that made my Hubby laugh when I put it on. I gave her a wheat bag. You know the ones you heat up in the microwave and put on your sore bits? well this one is actually a fluffy pink Bunny! She loves bunnies. Anyway I thought it was cute and quite hilarious that you would have to put the bunny in the microwave a la fatal attraction style... But after reading the instructions which state:
1. DO NOT put bunny in microwave.
Awww.... oh well. :) You just put the wheat bag insert in the microwave. Well the poor thing is suffering from a sore back at the moment so my bunny wheat bag is a much appreciated gift. Plus it is so damned cute :)
After a very busy day driving into the city, I came home to find a parcel for ME sitting at my front door. It was my bumper sticker from Caren . I was so excited because it looked like a lot more than just a bumper sticker. She also included TWO mousie catnip toys for Moby, and a beautiful kitty card for me. Thankyou SO much Caren. And a pressie for you will be on it's way when I finish it :) So I was going to have Moby pose with it but I could not find him anywhere..... Strange..LOL!

Moby's round the world trip.

I found these stuffed under Moby's bedding. I don't know how he did it or why every place he visited seemed to be in miniature but, well, here is the evidence.

Leaping over the Great Wall

Terrorising Italy

Fuzzy Sphynx. I hope he didn't use Giza as a giant litter box!

Not even New York was safe!

Despite this, My Cat still Loves Me..

After many weeks of saving I finally bought myself a new camera! It's a Canon Powershot XS120 IS. I love it. It is so clever. While I work out the many features on it ,I have the setting on AUTO and it does everything. After visiting Carens' Cat Chat I was inspired to do some creative Photography. Subject: Moby.
While he wasn't a very co-operative model I did manage to snap a few cute pics. (After I realised I should have set the camera to SMALL CHILDREN AND PETS. lol.. oh well.. live and learn!) Merry Christmas everyone!
I managed to sit him in a white wreath I have

this one was blurry because he was trying to escape..

This one is my favourite so I jazzed it up a little

How I met my Cat.

How I met my Cat.
In 2001 I was a very new single mum. I had moved in with my parents, and when my son was 8 months old I decided to get myself a kitty. So I looked through the local papers until I found an add I liked the sound of. I rang the owners and a time was set to view the kittens.
When I arrived I was greeted at the door by what I was later told was the kittens mother. She was a gorgeous short haired ginger and white kitty. The Daddy was ginger and white as well but he had longer hair. The owners took me to the room that the kittens were in and I sat on the floor to watch them for a bit while they waddled around and played with each other. They were only three weeks old at this stage, and today I was only picking out which one I wanted. They wouldn’t be ready to take home for a few more weeks after they were weaned off their mummy.
I eventually decided on one kitten that was a light ginger all over, and cuddled it for a while before bidding a reluctant goodbye.
Some time later the kittens owners rang to tell me my little fur baby was ready to be picked up!
When I got there things didn’t quite go to plan. I spotted the kitten I had picked and when I went to pick it up it hissed at me and ran away! Oh no! What was I going to do? I couldn’t bear to have a kitty who hated me! Lol..
I sat there for a while hoping that the kitty would come out. But while I was waiting, another kitty spotted me. He was a very cute chubby baby, with lovely ginger and white markings on him. He waddled over to me, climbed into my lap and looked up into my eyes. I had been PICKED, and I was in love. The feeling was obviously mutual.
I took my new fur baby home. He was so small and cute. I named him Moby. My son and Moby got along so well I nick-named them “The Twins”. If one was getting into mischief you could bet the other was not far behind, or lending a helping hand/paw.
Moby grew into an enormous long haired scruff of a cat. He is extremely loving and follows me everywhere, sticking to my leg like a barnacle. His fur gets everywhere. He once went missing for two days, before he eventually turned up again. One morning I found him with a cat food tin stuck on his head. He loves to chase sticks, hates dogs and chases them to. He loves to squeeze his big body into the smallest of places. He sometimes sleeps in the weirdest of spots, and in the craziest positions.
It shocked me to realize that he is now nine years old. I think he is the cat I’ve had for the longest amount of time. I’ve been very lucky in that he has been a very healthy cat, having only had to take him to the vet once in all his years.
I know He is an old timer now, and that one day he will eventually pass on, but while he is still with us he will be dearly loved.
He will be my Moby.
