So tomorrow morning, bright and early.. I'm taking still DARK...before even the birdies, we are off on our first trip in Anna. The car is packed to the hilt with stuff we have to then transfer to Anna when we get to the block (where Anna lives). Then it's just a matter of hitching her n and away we go.
I have only just realised that we won't get to watch the Olympic Games opening Ceremony as we don't have a tv in Anna. I am sure we will be able to *ahem* acquire it from somewhere.
So I will be using free wifi on our holiday but I may not have too much time to stop in here. I will if I can. We should be back next Friday.
Meanwhile.. I have been working on a new art project. It's an Art journal and so far I am pretty pleased with the results. I wont be showing some of the pages to you because they are pretty personal, but I can show you one I did the other day that I love! I used texture paste on it and I just love the way it turned out.
The photo really doesn't do it justice.. it is really shimmery and sparkly. here is a close up of the tail..
Like I said I used texture paste and a pallet knife to get the nice scale effect. The background is a watercolour wash, then dabbed with scrunched up paper. And yes, you DO spot my Mermaid poem there as well. I have decided to use my own poems and short stories in my journal. It just makes it more personal...even if it is in the background mostly covered by paint. It's all mine and meaningful. Not some random crap I found somewhere in the internet. :)
Hope you all have a great weekend and week ahead. And I am sure I will bombard you with photos when I get back!

Good news...sort of.
So we had the appointment with Hubby's surgeon yesterday. He is a really hard man to read. I am one of those people who can read someone like an open book, but this man is definitely a closed book.. lol. Hubby will be getting the Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) in but not for at least a couple of months.
Which means we can now make plans for our little trip up north in Anna Cabana! YAY! First we are going to a town about 7 hours north for three nights while Hubby trains to be a table judge for the World Karate Championships in Sydney in November. He trains for two nights. The second night being a practical at a competition.
Then we are going to head a further 4 hours north to my home town to visit my little sister, and big brother. I am very excited as I haven't seen my little sister for ages, and my brother for longer. My Husband will also meet for the first time my sister-in-law and their kids (Who didn't bother coming to our wedding). I really have to watch my Hubby then, he is just as likely to come out and say..."So, you didn't make it to our wedding... What's with that?"... lol. Interesting times abound.
I rang my sister to see if we can park Anna in her yard and...needless to say she was excited..
"OMG! THAT WILL BE F**KING AWESOME!!!" lol.
I'm excited.
Oh...also, my Dad now has all his staples out and after a little bit of a setback, is recovering very nicely,

Updates
Hello my bloggie friends.
Just giving you an update on the Sprite family.
My Dad's operation was successful, and he is now home today re cooperating under the watchful eye of my Mum. He is still pretty sore, and he has a massive scar full of staples from his navel to just under his chest, but all in all it went well. He also had has Gall Bladder out as it was full of stones and his doctor said if not now then another time, so Dad agreed to get it all done at the same time. He said he never wants to go through that again, and fingers crossed that he never has to. Big sigh of relief for all of us. I know that he had a lot of people worrying and praying for him, even all the way from Canada :) (A friend had a prayer circle going for him... isn't that nice?). Anyway..the staples, I have never seen them before, they look brutal, and also wicked, so I'm going to take a pic of them...and yes I may even blog it.. hehehee. Don't worry I will give fair warning for the faint hearted.
Meanwhile, we still have no idea when Hubby's op will be. Now they actually want us to come in before pre-admissions to discuss the operation. I guess they freaked out over the number of questions we sent them in an email... well it's understandable, considering the only time we DID see the surgeon last year, he spent most of the time trying to persuade us that Hubby should NOT have the op at that time. Needless to say we didn't ask a lot of questions back then. So they wanted us to just rock up at pre-admission...with no info at all? I don't think so! All we know at this stage is that we will be seeing the surgeon some time soon. And the op is only a Day surgery. Which I thought was odd... only day surgery.. not even an over night thing...?
So we are carrying on with life as normal.. I mean what is the point of cancelling things when you have no idea? Hubby and son have a karate grading coming up and we are also planing our first trip in Anna Cabana to a town about 7 hours north of us for two nights. Hubby has to go there for a training session to be a volunteer judge at the World Karate Championships in November in Sydney. Which we are still planning on going to.
If we have to cancel we have to cancel. Simple..life has to go on.
So that's it. Not exciting news, but then it's better than the alternative. My Dads operation was a very risky one. Just the thought of something going wrong.... I don't even want to go there.
My sons music teacher had to cancel his lesson the other day. We arrived and she had just got off the phone.. her Dad had recently had a stroke and now he was dying. It was only a matter of hours. Poor thing, she was a mess, and it hit a bit close to home for me. I felt so bad for her. And I know it sounds horrible but I also felt so lucky that my Dad was still around and I didn't have to go through the hurt she was going through.
I know I will eventually, he is not a young man...but at least I have him for a few more years.
love Sprite xx

well Hi!
hello all. Yes I know it's been over a month since my last post. All sorts of things happened that just didn't allow for me to give blogger any attention. First I got sick, then my son, then we passed it on to hubby as we got better... it was not a good couple of weeks. I was horrid looking. not that you would have seen me.. so I thought I'd do a pictorial representation of me..
So within a few hours I went.....
There WAS rain and lightening in my room.... I swear....
Anyway...
I am now mobile.....
It took a couple of days backing up and reorganising, but I have finally ditched the PC and upgraded to a laptop. It's only a refurbished one, but it's pretty smicko.. and zippy with it's i5 processor. After a bit of an argument with it about my speaker cable.. we finally settled and are working harmoniously together. Poor Hubby has not even opened his up yet.. he is still backing up his GAZILLION hard drives off his old PC.
Meanwhile.... Moby has his winterweight fur and is as fat as a whale. He likes to plonk his enormous bulk down on my friends lap. Especially at night, which, unfortunately is the time when she likes to get all her knitting done.. sometimes he is a little frisky and bats at the wool. One night she was knitting away when all of a sudden she realised the wool was getting really wet and sticky.. she looked down onto her lap and here is Moby fast asleep with the wool threading through his mouth, getting cat slobber all over it! I laughed so much when she told me.
So my Dad's operation is on Friday. He has to be at the hospital pretty early so I am going to drive them there myself.. and so I can be there waiting with Mum. I think they are getting a little nervous about it. It's a BIG operation. It's supposed to last for 2 - 2 1/2 hours without any complications. He will be in hospital for a week if all goes well. I admit I am getting a little nervous myself. I took my son to see him today... you know.. just in case.. (I don't even want to go there). We haven't heard anything about when Hubby's operation is supposed to be as of yet. At least they weren't scheduled at the same time.
We have been to another market, to see what it was like.. didn't like it much as it was ridiculously windy. But we did sell a lot of my crochet tea towels.. people love em for some reason... Oh! I've sold a painting! It's one I did of a Lorikeet. I didn't sell it at the market but I showed a pic of it on my phone to my friend and she loved it. I am a selling artist! WOOT WOOT!!!
I've been a bit of a Betty Home Maker lately and have been baking lots of yummy things. Jube lolly biscuits and bread..
This was one of them.. fabulous Soy and Linseed Bread.
I also made more of the cute crochet rings. This one I put a nice pearl button in the centre...I think it's my favourite so far..
And this is the Lorikeet painting I did...
sorry about the crap photo..I haven't worked out how to take a good pic of my art yet..
Well I think that is it for now.. I did go to a book fair but I'll talk about that another time.. I am sure I have bored you enough. Bye for now, Sprite.

Good news and Bad news
First the good. Remember my bad tooth? that looked like this:

Well today I went back to the dentist and after some drilling, they were able to tell the cavity wasn't near the pulp so they just filled it for me. YAY! now it looks like this:

Such a load off my mind. Except my mouth is SO numb right now and I am so hungry... all I can eat is soup.. nom nom nom... I have a bit of a drool thing going on, on the right side of my mouth.. it's not pretty. And dang if they aren't a tad on the rough side at this dental clinic.. feel like I got punched in the mouth, my lips feel all bruised. Tried to kiss hubby but I couldn't feel it and all he got was drool.
Now for the bad news. Both my Hubby and Dad are soon to be going in for some major surgery. My Dad is getting an aortic aneurysm removed, and Hubby has to have the AICD put in. Which is an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. Basically it's a mini defibrillator that keeps the heart beating regular. The AICD is one step away from getting a heart transplant. But there is a small chance that once this device is implanted, hubby wont be needing the transplant for a while, and in some cases patients haven't needed a transplant at all. We are not that hopeful though as HUbby's heart is pretty stuffed.
So both Hubby and Dad are just waiting for the operation dates. It's frustrating, not knowing. I want to plan things. Hubby is going to be laid up for a few months, while things settle down. He isn't allowed to do much at all. He can't even lift his arms above his shoulders.
Because of all this, we have to put off our little trip in Anna Cabana for a while.. just until all this is over, and we can get some things done to the car and the caravan.
We have started a little store at the local markets. We are selling bits and pieces we no longer need, and also some new things. I am making a few crochet things and hubby is importing stuff like guitar accessories. So far my crochet tea towels have proved to be very popular. I think people like the nice bright colours I use. I am including some new things next time. I made some vintage look crochet rose rings, and some crochet wriggle book worms for the kids. They are a lot of fun to make and are pretty quick to whip up. I give them big googley eyes to.
How cute are these?!

I love making these cuties :)

I've also done some nice little original paintings to sell. I have taken over the garage and it is now my studio/girl cave... Hubby is not getting it back... MUWHAHAHAHAHAAA...!
Anyway...must go.. try to eat something.. soup time :) And it's starting to hurt like a SOAB.. pain med time...
