Unfair.

Hi everyone.
Well I wanted to tell you all about our holiday and show some pics, but I'm just not in the mood at the moment. We got some sad news yesterday and I don't really feel like doing much else. My little sisters boyfriends Dad was tragically killed in a farming accident. While I didn't know the man personally, it was only a few days ago that my sister was telling me what a nice man he was and how he had welcomed her into their family with open arms. I could tell she cared deeply for him. And that is why I am sad. Sad that a wonderful man, so loved by such a big family and friends has died suddenly, and sad for the pain that my sister, her boyfriend and everyone else is going through. It has got me down.
It's just so wrong, so unfair.

This is the second person that I know, to have lost their dad since my own Dads operation. It really makes me appreciate even more that I still have my Dad around.

Life is so precious.

  1. My best friends husband died 3 years ago and it changed me on an unexpected level. My dads parents have passed away, but that was expected. I mourn them and miss them to this day, but I think the shock of an untimely death is different? I don't know, but I understand where you are coming from. I'm sorry for the loss you feel and for the loss to his loved ones.

  2. That is so sad and life just isn't fair when bad things like this happen to good people.

  4. Oh no! That's so horrible! Yes, like Meg said . . . the untimely deaths are devastating to a family. Even family by association. I understand your pain, Sprite. Unfortunately, I do. I'm sorry for your sister's loss.

  7. In the past five years, I have lost my grandma, my father-in-law, my mother-in-law, my step-dad and my husband. When my mom was recetly diagnosed with diabetes, I put my foot down. I let her know she is to remain in good health and ever present in my life for many many more years or else!

It is really hard to lose the grown ups in your life. They are your go to people, the foundation the next generation is built on . It's not just sad it's really kind of scary too.

  8. Thank you everyone for your kind words.

@Nari yes I know what you mean. While Hubby and I try not to let his terminal illness dictate our lives too much, it is always a dark cloud looming over us. I know I will loose him one day to this disease, but I hope that it is a long time into the future.
No-one wants to think about their parents leaving them :(

  9. That is really sad news. I worked the crime desk when I was a journalist so I've seen how sudden, tragic loss can devastate others. Stay strong, Sprite. My heart goes out to you all.

  10. Such a tragedy!
As time has gone by, I've lost all the "adults" in my life to the point where I'm now the oldest one left in my family. I so hope that I have years left before I hear "Next!" But, this story shows me how unpredictable life can be.
    Carpe diem!!!
